WHAT ‘YA’ READIN’?

The Bible is the inspired authority and infallible Word of God for mankind.  It is the standard by which we judge all other teachings, and it clearly gives us guidelines on who we are in Christ and how we are to live.

Over the years, God has influenced many men and women to write books that are useful for augmenting what we learn in the Bible. One such author is George Barna.

In his book, Think Like Jesus, Barna uses his research to help us understand what our worldviews are, how they affect our thinking and affect what we do. He helps us to understand what God expects our worldviews to be and how we can achieve minds that think as our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ thinks.

Are you concerned with making the right decision? Let Barna get you started in that direction. He clearly states that he does not have the answer, but he knows Who does. This book skillfully and realistically takes you on the journey to help in understanding what God wants and in making right decisions based upon Truth.

The book begins with Barna’s encounter with a young man while they were flying to Dallas on business. That encounter led to his realization that we’ve gotten off track in our worldview thinking; Christians and non-Christians alike. The book provokes internal retrospection as to what we think and believe, and how it affects our lives.  Barna not only gives us some food for thought, his book also helps us practically apply what he shows us.

This three-part book takes us through our worldview thinking. The first part helps us realize what our worldview is and why it’s important. Part two guides us through how to develop a Bible-based worldview. And finally, the third part shows us how to apply that worldview to our lives.

The book can be a helpful tool in developing the mind of Christ in our worldview.  Imagine the peace and relief from stress we can have if we “think like Jesus.” Jesus thought and acted in the will of The Father in all things.  He knew that God’s thoughts, ways and plans were always for our best because of His love for us.  Surrendering our mind, heart, and will to God, leave us free from worry as His plans are to prosper us, to give us hope and a future.

Check out George Barna’s book, Think Like Jesus, and see if it helps you in making right decisions relating to your worldview.

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 2:5
